History

1949 in the era of nationalization and private business closures Mr. Tine Babnik (1923 - 1997) founded a craft workshop Elektromehanika Babnik (Babnik Electrical Engineering), later TIBA.

1949 – 1975 TIBA was the only manufacturer of special electric motors in the then Yugoslavia. The needs of industry for the products were immense, the craft workshop with 12 employees failed to meet the demand, therefore, Mr. Babnik in

1975 established a Treaty Organization of Joint Labour (POZD). With the establishment of POZD TIBA the condition of employing more workers in TIBA was met and by this a rapid development and increased productivity at manufacturing of electric motors and other special electrical machines was achieved.

1983 with successful work TIBA built new business premises at today's location.

1991 TIBA was by status transformation altered into a limited liability company. As a result, workers who were at that time employed by TIBA obtained ownership in the company.TIBA’s activities have been changing from the early days when in the craft workshop the founder Mr. Tine Babnik began with the manufacturing of water heaters, battery connectors and then later on dealt with car electricity. As it was not possible to buy various devices on the market, which he required at his daily work, he simply made those on his own. This was the beginning of the development and manufacturing of special electric motors designed according to the desires of customers.
With the development of various types of special electric motors (brake, vibrating, tapering, single-phase, specially fitted electric motors for lifts, etc.) TIBA became the most important manufacturer in the former Yugoslavia. Electric motors were intended primarily for machine engineering.
1996 we eventually started building different sets of motors and gearboxes, later in connection with frequency inverters.
2001 we started to develop and produce various industrial devices attached to drive mechanisms. These were conveying, lifting and vibratory devices.
We have developed agricultural ecology programme, primarily aimed at processing of liquid manure, and extended it to other devices used in agriculture.

How to find us?

If you are coming on the H3 northern city motorway bypass from the direction Trieste (Zagreb) or from the direction Maribor, turn at the exit nr. 6 for Kranj (Austria) to Celovška cesta. Pass the gas station and at the traffic lights turn right to Bravničarjeva ulica. At the end of the street on the right-hand side you will see our office building.
